Science Club

Science club This club was held after school every Tuesday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. We hope to run this club again in the Summer term, have a look at what we got up to! Does it interest you?
Awards
Members of the club will have the chance to work towards an award. Each award consists of a certificate and an enamel badge.
The award schemeAims to
-raise children's self esteem
-reward children by celebrating all achievement
-encourage more able children through independent project work
-raise the profile of science in school
-make science FUN by undertaking a practical approach to all activities.
Science Club AwardsBronze award
To achieve a bronze award children must complete ten science activities.
Silver award
To achieve a silver award children usually first complete a bronze award. They must then complete an extended investigation lasting about twenty hours.
Due to the popularity of this new club it will be open to different year groups on a rota basis. The club is currently open to year four children.
Measuring accurately is an important skill in science. As part of this investigation the children are measuring water using a measuring cylinder, they are measuring in ml.
Here a group of children from the science club are investigating the sensitivity of the tongue to varying degrees of sweetness and saltiness. Can the tongue easily distinguish between two concentrations of sugared water?
